Some kitchen worktops are more durable than others. This however does not mean you should take any chances as all type of worktops can scratch, mark and dent. With taking a few simple steps you can protect you worktops from the most common occurrences.

The biggest cause of damaged worktops usually comes from the food preparation area. People fail to use cutting boards while cutting and preparing food. A shop kitchen knife can easily scratch a whole in the most durable worktops, always have a few cutting boards hand. The good thing is these cutting boards do not need to make the kitchen look a mess. You can choose from hundreds of styles from the most obscure class products to big think wooden ones.

This idea carries over into things like coffee pots, kettles etc. Anything that you could drag and potentially scratch the surface. Make sure you either use a worktop protector or perhaps make sure your worktop appliances have rubber feet.

Its always a good idea to remember a little fore-thinking could save you a lot of money down the road and will greatly expand the life span of your woprktops.
