Any design oriented person will know that decorating a home or kitchen does not merely involve selecting the right pieces of furniture. An overall look and feel of the place must be presented and this can only be achieved with proper planning of your colours and themes beforehand. This might be one of the most important aspects of designing a beautiful kitchen. The only issue most people have here is their relative inexperience at selecting the right kitchen colours.
The best furniture around will look out of place if the overall color scheme of the kitchen does not complement it. How often did you see a great looking piece of furniture in the store, only to purchase it, place it in your home and realize it doesn’t look half as good as it did back in the store? As mentioned before, this is a rather tough task for inexperienced hands so here are a few simple pointers you can look to follow if you’re picking new kitchen colours.
First of all, it is important that you visualize what your final kitchen layout would look like. Professional designers usually have access to 3D rendering programs that allows them a preview of what the final completed work will look. For most others, we are stuck using our minds.
Next, pick a set of furniture that has colours which complement each other. To keep things simple for beginners, try to opt for shades which are close to one another but you can select varying levels of brightness or darkness in order to create gorgeous contrast effects.
You will also want colours of your kitchen tiles and walls cannot be too irritating to look at. Finally, make certain that you opt for kitchen colours which fit the overall feel you are trying to create. For instance, if you are going for a Victorian look, then glossy white tiles and a pure white wall will look less complementary than darker, pastel colours.

Thanks for the information choosing kitchen colours can be a daunting task and you have given me a few ideas. I’ve currently got my heart set on black worktops and white doors along with slate kitchen tiles. I’ve seen these colours work well in a few kitchens and hopefully I can’t go wrong
